HQS Quantum Simulations, a spin-off of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, has closed a seed financing round together with btov Partners’ Industrial Tech Fund, UVC Partners and HTGF. HQS use quantum computers to significantly accelerate development cycles in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. For this purpose, HQS develops algorithms that circumvent common quantum computer problems.
The funding will be used primarily for personnel. By the end of next year, the workforce is to grow from the current 15 to 30. They are looking for quantum physicists and chemists as well as software developers to join the team.
The goal of HQS is to close the gap between science and industry and – with their software solution – make it possible for chemical and materials scientists to develop new materials, for example for high-performance batteries or highly efficient solar cells. In addition, HQS is already strongly networked with strong partners such as BASF, Bosch and Merck.
