Andreas Harens

Fund Controller

Andreas joined btov as Fund Controller in April 2020 and supports the management of the Luxembourg based investment structures of btov.

Whilst completing his training as an industrial clerk in Trier, Andreas completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Luxembourg. Before joining the btov family, he worked for eight years as an internal auditor, three of which were with M.M. Warburg & CO Luxembourg S.A. and 5 with NORD/LB Luxembourg S.A. Covered Bond Bank.

I am especially enthusiastic about old technology and the connection with new! For example, I have integrated an FM transmitter into a tube radio from the 60’s, so that I can connect my mobile phone to it.

Q -Which values are important to you and drive you?
AH -Satisfaction, health, respect, attentiveness, stability / security (financial).
Q -Which SciFi "technology" are you missing in the real world?
AH -Time travel and teleportation :)
Q -What technological progress do you hope for the most?
AH -Since I am a diabetic myself, I very much hope for further and faster improvements in insulin therapy and closed systems with measurement and regulation.
Q -Which technology or which trend inspires you the most?
AH -I am especially enthusiastic about old technology and the connection with new! For example, I have integrated an FM transmitter into a tube radio from the 60's, so that I can connect my mobile phone to it!
Q -Which professional or personal achievement are you particularly proud of and why?
AH -Last year my partner and I opened a café in the pedestrian zone of Trier. From the initial idea to the business plan to the renovation, everything was done by us and we only had to call on companies on a few occasions to keep to the schedule.
Q -What do you do in your spare time? Do you have a passion that you pursue besides work?
AH -I cherish and preserve the past. I restore cars, mopeds, motorcycles and furniture, I like to design for my life and I live a very unusual life!
Q -What did you want to be when you were little?
AH -Rich. To be able to afford everything I had to do without as a child, which was pretty much everything.
Q -What are you particularly good at, what is your "superpower"?
AH -I recognize patterns and errors in systems incredibly fast.
Q -What constitutes your being, what is typical for you?
AH -I walk slower than most people and I am regularly brought up with it. But from my point of view I simply experience my surroundings more consciously than others and am more attentive, also in contact with my fellow man. But it is always funny in any case :)
Q -What are indispensable tools in your everyday life?
AH -Music and everything that has to do with it! Especially Youtube, my mobile phone and connection tools!
Q -Which person would you most like to work with?
AH -Sir Richard Branson!
