Heiner Jürgensen has a degree in computer science. During his studies he had started to work on various aspects of the meta-topic of man-to-machine-communication. Besides his role as CEO of epublica GmbH and of four apps GmbH (the latter since 2013), Heiner still likes to develop software for web- and database-applications as well as for smartphones to date.
In 2001, Heiner and three of his fellow students had started epublica, a technology lab that has implemented large web projects for various clients and, since 2011, also developed applications for mobile devices. epublica was not only a technology and service company, but also started early on to engage in projects in the role of an active investor, e.g. with Qype (merged into yelp! in 2013) and XING. With regard to XING, epublica was right from the beginning responsible for the technology-related aspects of the platform, and continued to work with the company even after the successful initial public offering. As a separate project, epublica developed the web platform wer-weiss-was.de which was sold successfully to the ProSiebenSat.1 AG in 2007.
In 2013, epublica launched a new subsidiary, four apps GmbH, that has developed a passenger information system for taxis in cooperation with myTaxi.
