Dr. Helmut Schmidt
Helmut began his career at McKinsey which he later left to join his family’s business, where he assumed the role as Managing Director. He led the process of forming Flint-Schmidt GmbH & Co KG through the merger of Gebr. Schmidt Druckfarben with Flint Ink’s European operations in 2002. Following the merger, Helmut became CEO of the newly formed entity Flint-Schmidt. After the takeover of Flint Group Europe by CVC in 2005, Helmut took on the position of President Europe, merging the business with former BASF Druckfarbensysteme GmbH and Akzo Nobel Inks. In 2006, he started the family business HCS Holdings Group, which specializes in early stage investments across a spectrum of industries including, among others, special chemical, clean tech and health care. Helmut holds several board positions in portfolio companies and has a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Munich.
