We strive to provide equal opportunities to all founders, as we believe access to investors should not be limited to your personal network. That’s why we aim to connect outstanding founders from diverse backgrounds with our dedicated investment teams and Europe’s strongest network of entrepreneurial private investors.

After conducting the Female Founders Fundraising Survey together with Grace Accelerator in Summer 2020, we learned that founders from underrepresented communities are facing more challenges than their peers, including lack of capital access, network and clarity on VC expectations.

That’s why we decided to launch btov connect!, a program addressing entrepreneurs looking for advice, not a format to pitch for fundraising. Whether you are looking for a sparring partner to validate your business model or would like to gain in-depth insights into a geographical target market or sector, the session will be customized to your individual need. You can also learn about btov expectations for a Seed/ Series A startup, how to structure a fundraising round or meet us with other specific questions.

We will match you for a 40 minute one-to-one virtual session with an expert from our digital tech or industrial tech investment teams, with an investor from our private investor network, or with an expert from Ringier Digital Ventures or Helvetia Venture Fund.

FAQ

What is btov connect!?

btov connect! is the office hours program by btov Partners, Ringier Digital Ventures and Helvetia Venture Fund. btov connect! is a weekly recurring event, where outstanding founders from underrepresented communities are given the opportunity to discuss their business ideas with one of our experts in the format of a 40 min virtual session.

Who is btov connect! for?

btov connect! is aimed at European tech founders from communities that have not traditionally had the most access to capital and VC advice. That is why our program addresses founders who are not male, not white/caucasian, LGBTQ+ or not university educated. Since btov and our corporate funds focus on digital tech and industrial tech investments, we can give the best advice to founders who have a tech-centric business model.

Is this an opportunity to pitch my company for fundraising at btov?

No. These sessions are for advice and questions only. If we’re interested in hearing more, we will follow up with you after the office hour.

How can I make the best use of my office hour?

It helps if you can give us the most information possible before we meet. We have a space to upload your deck or provide questions in advance so we can come prepared. During the session, we recommend you to use the first 10min to introduce your business idea to the investor. During the following 30min, you should discuss specific questions which you prepared in advance.

What kind of topics are covered?

The session is a chance to ask about anything related to scaling your business, pitching and working with investors.

Whether you are looking for a sparring partner to validate your business model or would like to gain in-depth insights into a geographical target market or sector, the session will be customized to your individual need. You can also learn about btov expectations for a Seed/Series A startup, how to structure a fundraising round or meet us with other specific questions.

As this session is not meant to pitch for fundraising but rather to gain advice and feedback from one of our experts, it is important that you prepare specific questions beforehand.

Who will I be meeting with?

We will match you for a one-to-one session with the most appropriate person for the questions you have.

Depending on your area of interest, you will be meeting with an expert from our digital tech and industrial tech investment teams, with an investor from our private investor network, or with an expert from Ringier Digital Ventures and Helvetia Venture Fund.

How long is each session?

Each session is 40 minutes long.

Where will the session take place?

We will meet on Zoom.

How is the match organized?

The investor will share his Calendly with you, where you can select a suitable time slot. Afterwards, you will automatically receive a ZOOM invite.

How soon will I know if my application has been successful?

We will revert within 10 business days. However, we cannot fully guarantee a match. In the case of no reply from our side, we unfortunately were unable to find an expert within our network to address your individual matter.

Do I need to bring slides or a presentation?

It is not mandatory to bring slides or a presentation, but a one- or two-slider could help frame the conversation.

Do you only invest in Germany-based companies?

We are focused on Europe. With offices in Berlin, Munich, Luxembourg and St.Gallen we have an emphasis on the German-speaking market (DACH). We also invest outside of Europe on a case-by-case basis, if we have a trusted, local lead investor.

What is your typical ticket size?

btov tickets for Seed and Series A investments range between 500k and 2M EUR.
